Combat Cold Sores

Those pesky painful little blisters can pop up at the most annoying times. Here is what to do to stop cold sores in their tracks.

1. Don't share lip products with other people. (if you happen to have a cold sore, it's unlikely your friends want it, not matter how pretty that shade of lip gloss is.)
2. Drink plenty of water. This will aid your body in the healing process
3. Dap a little bit of doTERRA's On Guard on it 3-4 times a day til it's healed. (If On Guard is to strong you can either dilute it with a carrier oil such as Coconut Oil or you can try one of the following oils by doTERRA; Lemon, Melaleuca, Peppermint or Melissa.)

Oobleck, Tons of Glowy Fun!

Oobleck is fun no matter what your age. I mean, who wouldn't love a slime that has both liquid and solid properties. It's great to teach kids about science. My son uses it as one of his "stations" when he if board.

Here is what you need:

  • A bowl
  • A Spoon
  • Cornstarch
  • Water (or tonic water)
  • doTERRA essential oil in Lavender or Wild Orange (optional)
Start with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of corn starch and add a little bit of water at a time stirring well each time. The right consistency is when the spoon moves easily through the slime when moved slowly but makes it crack, split and feel solid when moved quickly. Optionally you can add a few drops of essential oil for therapeutic benefit. Not only will the slime smell great but if they play with it with their hands the oils will benefit them topically as well.

To make this activity even more fun all you need is a dark room and a black light. Oobleck will glow a bit anyway because the corn starch is white but if you want added black light power use tonic water instead of normal water. The quinine in tonic water is black light sensitive and will give your slime a little extra glow.

Old Remedy with a New Twist

I am sure you have heard the age old remedy for bug bites, poison ivy and other annoying itches using baking soda and white vinegar. Together they make a soothing paste that calms bothersome itchy skin.

To give this DYI anti-itch cream a ultra soothing twist just add 2-5 drops of doTERRA Lavender oil and mix well before applying. Lavender soothes bites, itching and inflammation so it is the perfect addition.
